Artist Interview
It was also a real highlight being featured on Little South.
Please introduce yourself to those unfamiliar with your DJ sound.
Hi, I’m Rebecca.D, a South West–based house DJ. I love bass-driven tech sounds and high-energy house music, and I’m always drawn to tracks with big grooves, rolling basslines and those arms-in-the-air moments that really bring the dancefloor together.

What are your highlights of the past year and what is planned for the future?
This year has already been amazing for me. I’ve had some great opportunities playing with Summerset, OAP, Funkulator and Sunset, and I’m incredibly grateful to all of them. It was also a real highlight being featured on Little South.
Looking ahead, things are getting really exciting. Alongside a group of DJs, we’ve just launched a new night called X.X.X – “Just Good Vibes.” The focus is on high-energy house, big smiles and proper dancing. You can expect to see us around the South West, with our first two dates locked in - May 2nd at Sawan in Plymouth and June 27th at Bomba in Exeter.
I’m also really excited to share that I’m a brand new signing with Audiowave Records, with some great dates coming up with the team both home and abroad including Fridaze Terrace Party on May 29th at Air, Plymouth and Satadaze Summer Vibes on June 6th at Sawan, Plymouth.
And this summer you’ll be able to catch me at Home Farm Festival, where I’ll be playing across multiple stages. Already there are a number of Somerset events coming up in Yeovil, with the next one on 4th April at Eight.
Just before that I’ll be playing at our next OAP all-girls lineup on 3rd April at Sawan in Plymouth, which should be a really fun one.
It’s shaping up to be a really exciting year and I’m looking forward to sharing plenty more music and dancefloor moments along the way.
Tell us something that you know now that you wished you knew when you first started DJing.
I think the biggest thing I’ve learned is to trust yourself and the music you genuinely connect with. My lack of confidence made it easy to listen to too many opinions or feel like I should be playing what other people like. With so much music out there it’s easy to get lost. I’m still learning this now to be honest - sometimes the music I love listening to isn’t always the music that makes me want to dance, so it’s about finding that balance between what moves you emotionally and what works on the dancefloor.

The DJs around me are also a huge inspiration.
What artists have inspired your DJ style?
I listen to loads of DJs and I think you naturally take a little bit from all of them. I love what WH0 does and that high-energy house sound, and lately I’ve really been enjoying listening to Johan.S and Costa as well. Octo Octa is also amazing to watch - the skills are unbelievable.

The DJs around me are also a huge inspiration. I’ve been having lessons with Sugar Shaker, and not only is she a banging DJ, she’s also really helped me believe in myself and trust my instincts behind the decks. The support and encouragement I’ve had from the people around me has been amazing.
Talk us through your podcast mix track selection.
For this mix I wanted to explore a slightly different side of my sound. While my dancefloor sets often lean towards the bouncier, high-energy house styles this mix focuses more on the deeper, tech-driven grooves I enjoy when digging through new music. Expect rolling basslines, underground house selections with nods of nostalgia throughout.
