Artist Interview
I'm producing a lot of pumping House and Tech House right now...
Please introduce yourself to those unfamiliar with your DJ sound.
Hi, I'm Lee Drift and I'm a House and Tech House DJ/producer from Cornwall. I've been playing out regularly since the mid 90s and have been fortunate to have played all over the UK, Europe and have even managed to squeeze in a number of gigs in Egypt and Australia.
My sound can vary so much dependant on where I'm playing to the time of day or night. I'm producing a lot of pumping House and Tech House right now but I have a firm love for all styles of 4/4 from Deep and Soulful House right through to driving Techno.

...Eric Prydz, he's the absolute master and basically created an entire genre all of his own.
What are your highlights of the past year and what is planned for the future?
Over the past year or so I've taken time out from regular gigging to concentrate more on my studio work, which has seen my music released a number of high profile record labels including Space Ibiza legend Jonathan Ulysess UlyBug label and Vanilla Ace's fantastic WyldCard Records.
I have a slew of tracks lined up for release over the summer where I'll be back on WyldCard and also on two incredible goal labels of mine that I'm really excited to be working with.
I'm also really looking forward to getting back out on the circuit now so any promoters out there please feel free to give me a hola.
Tell us something positive to inspire future artists.
Music is a source of incredible joy for so many people, so as a DJ having the opportunity to share your personal taste in music is an honor and should be treated as such. In a massively over saturated global DJ scene where huge egos are so prevalent, be the face of gratitude and remain humble. Spread positivity and don't ever start to believe that you are more important than the music itself.

What artists have inspired your DJ style?
So many artists have been huge inspirations to me over the years, from the early rave years with Trevor Rockliffe, Colin Dale, obviously the big man himself Carl Cox, through to Paul Oakenfold, Nick Warren and Danny Howells. Oh and Eric Prydz, he's the absolute master and basically created an entire genre all of his own.
Talk us through your podcast mix track selection.
Ok, well I love to grab peoples attention from the get-go so the first track is super important to me when preparing a set and especially a recorded mix. This mix starts out chunky, bumping Tech House before it moves its way into a groovier House territory. We are coming into Summer after all so I wanted the second half of the mix to reflect that. I hope everyone enjoys listening to it as much as I did putting it together.
