DJ LSGD Psychedelic Dance Mix
Episode 1/26
DJ LSGD
Hailing from Cornwall, Lucas - better known as DJ LSGD - is a prominent figure in the South West's psychedelic scene, specializing in Psytrance and Dark Prog. His signature sound blends deeply hypnotic grooves with cutting-edge sound design, often merging high-energy Twilight and Forest styles with more uplifting melodies. Rooted in the technical complexity of Zenonesque and Psytech, he crafts each set to be an immersive sonic journey tailored to the specific energy of the venue and crowd. As an active member of the dancefloor community, he draws direct inspiration from the industry’s top producers to refine his own mixing techniques. This dedication to growth allows him to bridge the gap between hard-hitting rhythms and more "fluffy," accessible psychedelic sounds. You can check out more music on his artist Soundcloud. By meticulously reading the pulse of his fellow ravers, he ensures every performance remains diverse, engaging, and unpredictable. For DJ LSGD, every set in 2026 is a collaborative exploration designed to keep the dancefloor both inspired and entertained.

Artist Interview
I favour some faster and harder styles of Psytrance...
Please introduce yourself to those unfamiliar with your DJ sound.
My name is Lucas - DJ LSGD. I am a Psytrance and Dark Prog DJ based out of Cornwall in the South West. My DJ sound is centered around deeply hypnotic grooves, uplifting melodies and tracks with sound design that I consider at the forefront of psychedelic dance music production.
I favour some faster and harder styles of Psytrance like Nighttime, Twilight and Forest styles although I tend to lean toward the fluffier more uplifting end of that spectrum. I do, however, often find myself returning to the more stripped back styles like Zenonesque, Psytech and Dark Prog that first drew me into the world of psychedelic dance music because of the sound design and feel of the music.
When I perform, I always consider the time at which I am playing, the venue or location of the gig and the crowd as a guiding factor to the music I will play. I will tailor my set so that I can showcase a range of music that I feel will take the dancefloor on a fun, psychedelic and interesting journey through sound.
As a keen Psytrance raver myself, I spend a lot of time on the dancefloor enjoying music from the finest producers and DJ’s in the scene. I take huge amounts of inspiration from mixing styles, transitions and track selections of the artists that I see so that I can grow and develop my own style based on what I find most enjoyable to dance to. I always check reactions of my fellow ravers to the DJ’s styles so that I can also see what others enjoy, this helps me to bring diversity to my sets and keep a broad crowd interested and entertained.
... put yourself forward, don’t be afraid to approach a promoter, DJ’s, Artists, venues or whoever.
What are your highlights of the past year and what is planned for the future?
My personal highlights from the last year are so many, I have been truly blessed to be able to join my tribe on the dancefloor while seeing some of my favourite producers and DJ’s. I have also been invited to play some really fun shows for a couple of different crews which means a lot to me.
If I had to choose a couple of top gigs they would be:
Neurotrition November gathering in Torquay -
Neurotrition have such a lovely crew (Xenoben, Psy Cartel and Acid Drop Anton & friends), the decor by Si List was beautiful and the crowd was very welcoming. I was asked if I wanted to close the night from 3:30-4:30 which for me is a great slot. In my opinion that is a peak time slot and for me it’s a privilege to be able to close the night at such a cool party. Getting the 3:30 AM slot means I didn’t have to hold back on my tune selection and could play some grittier night-time style which I really enjoy. The Neurotrition guys put on a wicked party and are very welcoming, go to one of their events!
CPD Sounds free party in August -
One of a handful of quality free-parties me and the crew have put on over the last few years. Together with our friends we have slowly been getting together a sound system, lights, some decor etc. and putting on some events.
This one was a great night, it went down really well in a very cool location which is often used by a few local free party crews - There are no neighbours and a safe place for people to camp for the night which means we can throw a good bash without disrupting anybody or putting any locals in any discomfort or danger. We had a good size crowd and the night went off without a hitch. We got to play music under the stars, we danced all night and we were greeted by the sun. It was such a wholesome night and it feels really good when it’s a complete success.
Residency at Ohm Psychedelic Productions -
I have held a residency at a series of great events in Cornwall by Ohm Psychedelic Productions at a venue called Jumunjy in Helston.
Getting to play a series of shows from summer through winter alongside some absolute legends has been a blast. I have have had free rein to play whatever styles I’ve wanted and have been well accommodated for by Sam Wearne (Geodigm) and Trevor Leppard (Squelch).
I am very happy to be collaborating with those guys as well as my homies CPD Sounds, its a really cool step to be contributing to building up the Cornwall Psy Scene. We also have some exciting things happening so watch this space.
Tell us something positive to inspire future artists.
If I had something inspirational to tell future artists it would be: Do what you do for yourself first and foremost. Trust your intuition and don’t be afraid to play the sounds you love. I’d add, put yourself forward, don’t be afraid to approach a promoter, DJ’s, Artists, venues or whoever - Get your name out there and show that you love what you do because that is the thing that really shines, if you can be true to your style and you have love for the art everything else will fall into place. Go and support local events, buy tickets, tell your friends and support artists.
What artists have inspired your DJ style?
I could go right back to when I first discovered dance music in my early teens and everything I’ve listened to since then. I have been fortunate to grow up in a musical family with a huge variety in musical tastes. Especially from my dad who brought us up on the most bizarre and interesting music that still inspires me today.
Since a young age I have been exposed to music of all genre’s, from ambience, death metal, electro, experimental to punk rock, world music and everything inbetween. I think that is how I have ended up listening to Psytrance, I can feel the influence of so much music within Psytrance and it is the music where I feel most connected to all of the people that have inspired me along the way. Psytrance for me encapsulates all of the epoch’s in my life so far and it feels good to be putting my own twist on it.
The prominent Psy artists that have solidified my love for the music, and inspired me, include:
Airi - Zenon Records
Astrix - Shamanic tales
Sense Datum - Bom Shanka Records
Daksinamurti - Sangoma Records
Neurolabz - Zenon Records
Act One - Bom Shanka Records
Pleadians - Etnicanet
Ajja - Peak Records/Tip Records
(I could go on)
Talk us through your podcast mix track selection.
My podcast mix track selection for Little South is predominantly from one of my favourite record labels - Zenon Records.
I did initially set out to create a setlist that would showcase tunes from multiple record labels but as it transpired I ended up down a Zenon Records rabbit hole. I think it has actually worked out perfectly for the Little South podcast mix as it is the record label that truly made me feel at home with psychedelic dance music.
For me, Zenon Records and other “zenonesque” sounds opened the doorway to many more Psytrance styles and, although, Zenon Records is not strictly a Psytrance label, it holds a space across a broad range of psychedelic dance music that includes influence from many different genre’s.
I feel that my mix is a great way for people that are less familiar with Psytrance and psychedelic dance music to feel at home with something new without feeling overwhelmed by what can often be a pretty intense and high-power genre, at the same time as being a mix that can be thoroughly enjoyed by those already well acquainted with the style.
My mix encapsulates many of the sounds which are the basis of most psychedelic dance music styles ( as well as bringing the feel of other styles like techno, trance and house music (to name a few).
The tracks I have selected feature textures inspired by ambience and organic sounding music as well as more industrial and sci-fi feeling soundscapes. I have picked some tracks with creepy or haunting samples because I like the feel of what I would describe as a “comfortable anxiety” which for me adds a fun and interesting dynamic to the music.
Something that I think Zenon Records does really well is to wrap all of this up in their label which makes their music so enjoyable for many people across a broad spectrum.
