Artist Interview
...my sound is undeniably rooted in the bassline driven sounds of UK garage, jungle and drum & bass of the turn of the millennium.
Please introduce yourself to those unfamiliar with your DJ sound.
Though my main musical obsession for the past decade has been techno, you can expect to hear plenty of chord stabs, atmospheric pads, Reese basslines and breakbeats strewn throughout my mixes and productions as my sound is undeniably rooted in the bassline driven sounds of UK garage, jungle and drum & bass of the turn of the millennium.
...I am also in the depths of preparing a new live set of my own material for 2026...
What are your highlights of the past year and what is planned for the future?
I have been keeping a fairly low profile over the past year and mainly producing music in my home studio as I have a young family but have also made a concerted effort to support local grassroots events. Particular highlights in 2025 have been playing at a secret JamTheChannel all-dayer event in the centre of Exeter, playing at a brand new night Pure Techno in Torquay and opening the proceedings for November's round of Techno Tunnel at Move in Exeter. Currently in the pipeline for next year are a smattering of private parties and I am also in the depths of preparing a new live set of my own material for 2026 which I will be debuting on March 14th 2026 for the Filth Infatuated Terrace Party at Dare To Club in Bristol.
Tell us something positive to inspire future artists.
If I had to say something to inspire future artists I would say forget about social media, make art for you, make music that you love, make mixes for your mates, make mixes for long car journeys, for Friday nights in your kitchen, for summer evenings at the beach and to remind future you of times you discovered new sounds, scenes, places and people - don't forget to press record and make sure people know where to find your creations.
What artists have inspired your DJ style?
It would be incredibly difficult to narrow it down to a few artists that really inspire me as I feel there are so many artists doing so many great things. Heiko Laux, Marcel Fengler, Surgeon, Luke Slater, Blawan, Kangding Ray, Donato Dozzy, Nadia Struiwigh, Peverelist, Hodge, Kowton, Joy Orbison, 214, James Shinra, E.R.P., James Holden, Petrichor.
Talk us through your podcast mix track selection.
The track selection for this mix ranges over about a decade of my collection and certainly deviates from the normal sound you would expect from the producers who made the tracks. I have tried to create more of a listening experience than something I might play in a club or a festival but my intention was to play on the listeners emotions whilst simultaneously be representative of an experience you may have at an event where the aforementioned artists would be playing over the span of an entire night, albeit compressed into a single hour.
