31st May - 2nd June 2019 | Scorrier House, Cornwall

As the dust settles from something extraordinary thats taken place within the idyllic grounds of Scorrier House (Redruth, Cornwall), we can reflect on what was possibly one of Cornwall’s greatest family music festivals. The Great Estate festival is celebrating it’s busiest year yet with over 19,000 guests attending to enjoy the wide range of music, victorian sports day games, Kernow Springs hot tubs and some wild dining – and a secret gin garden!

"A festival like no other where the children, young families and pensioners can party together"

With tough competition across the South West and Cornwall becoming THE place for music festivals right now, the Great Estate has it’s work cut out. Other festivals boast an array of headline artists to sell tickets, the Great Estate has used it’s charm to appeal to all ages. There’s something quite attractive about a festival where the musical line-up doesn’t really matter to have such an enjoyable experience. A festival like no other where the children, young families and pensioners can party together – a truly magical thing in today’s world. The weather was relatively kind. The various bars kept everyone suitably catered.

A new addition this year was the Mexican wrestling where it was as visually outrageous as you would expect and really got the crowds revved up for their favourite fighter.

Live music-wise there really was something for everyone to enjoy with an array of Cornish bands such as Haunt The Woods and Hedluv + Passmangetting crowds dancing. Did we mention there was a fairground?

Hidden away within Scorrier House’s walled garden was the he beautiful Secret Gin Garden which gave everyone the perfect excuse to kick back and chill out with a gin set to some special bands.

Craig Charles took up the late night Sunday service with his well-loved funk and soul show which definitely got the ground shaking. One aspect of the festival which was notably quiet was the wooded Silent Disco which was a magical experience.

"Credits to all those behind the scenes who have really made the Great Estate festival a superb weekend."

We cannot wait for next year’s festival which takes place!
