Artist Interview
...uplifting vocals, piano-driven loops, and feel-good energy have been at the heart of my sets ever since.
Please introduce yourself to those unfamiliar with your DJ sound.
Hi, I'm Andy Bacon. I turned 50 this year, and my DJ journey started after a life-changing 5-month stint in Ibiza back in '95. That season shaped my sound forever, uplifting vocals, piano-driven loops, and feel-good energy have been at the heart of my sets ever since.
Influenced by legends like John Kelly and unforgettable nights at Clockwork Orange in Es Paradis, those early experiences continue to guide every set I play.
A lot of the tracks in this mix were tried and tested during that set...
What are your highlights of the past year and what is planned for the future?
Booking Maslow Unknown for our May Bank Holiday event at The Terrace has to be right up there. It also happened to be my 50th birthday, surrounded by some very special friends, a full house, amazing energy, and an artist I'd been wanting to book for over a year. He absolutely delivered. A standout moment, no doubt.
As for what's next, who knows what the future holds. For now, we've got two more Sonar events lined up: Our final session at The Terrace on 30th August 2025, and our season closer at The Treasury with Ibiza legend Brandon Block.
Let's end the summer right.
Tell us something positive to inspire future artists.
If I could share one thing with anyone starting out, it's this: stay true to your sound and passion. Trends will come and go, but authenticity lasts. I started DJing after being inspired by a moment in time that truly moved me, and I've followed that feeling ever since.
It's not always easy, but the journey is worth it. Keep showing up, keep creating, and surround yourself with people who believe in what you do. The right moment will come, just be ready when it does.
What artists have inspired your DJ style?
I would say Masters at Work, John Kelly, Alex P, Brandon & Seb Fontaine.
Talk us through your podcast mix track selection.
This mix is a little different from my usual style, lately, I've really been getting into disco house, and a big part of that inspiration comes from one of our incredible residents, Reece Johnson. He's an amazing disco house producer, and we recently played a B2B set at a festival that absolutely went off.
A lot of the tracks in this mix were tried and tested during that set, they brought serious energy and great crowd reactions. The mix kicks off with a couple of quality deep house tracks to ease you in, before shifting into more uptempo, groove-heavy disco house vibes. It's feel-good from start to finish.
Many Thanks, Andy x
