From the people behind Tunes In The Dunes comes a brand new and unique experience set in the grounds of Powderham Castle just outside Exeter. Tunes In The Castle takes place Saturday 3rd - Sunday 4th August 2019 and has an array of headline artists such as Joss Stone, James Morrison, Pixie Lott, Scouting For Girls, Sugarhill Gang, Frank Turner and Gypsy Queens to name just a few on the bill. But it is not just music, there are promises of medieval jousting, a gin garden and King Arthur's VIP area and a silent disco!
Just eight miles from Exeter town centre settled on the bank of River Exe, Powderham Castle holds centuries of stories which is opening to the public especially for the one of a kind festival, Tunes In The Castle.
Headliners this year include: Joss Stone, James Morrison, Pixie Lott, Scouting for Girls, Sugarhill Gang, Hayseed Dixie, Lime Cordiale, Frank Turner & the sleeping souls, The Skints, Ward Thomas, Newton Faulkner, Gypsy Queens, Lucy Spraggan, as well as plenty of local rising talent.
The weekend of family friendly fun will cater for all ages and interests. Youngsters can be entertained by Robin Hoods Archery Range, surprise wizardry games or medieval themed children’s area. Revellers will be able to dance the night away in the enchanted forest, discover the secret ball room with special acts playing throughout the weekend, sample some of the south west's finest beverages at the Prosecco Bar or at the flower filled Gin Garden.
For those looking to unwind, the wellness area will have hot tubs and saunas for soaking tired limbs, while yoga classes will be running in the big teepee, where festival goers can escape the excitement and take in the tranquil surroundings.
The curators of Tunes In The Castle are committed to keeping Powderham Estate clean and green, so reusable cups will be available to minimise single-use plastic. Sister Festival Tunes In The Dunes has worked closely with Surfers Against Sewage for the last five years, with a sleeves up approach towards tackling the plastic pollution problem. Tunes In The Castle will have an equally proactive attitude to keeping the riverside estate as plastic free as possible. The hashtag #PlasticFreeTunes is used across all social platforms to raise awareness and to inspire action among Tunes In The Castle community.
Powderham Castle lies in a beautiful deer park, just a stone's throw from the historic cathedral city of Exeter. The Castle was first opened to visitors in 1959, since then in excess of a million people have been through the doors to share in over 600 years of history, and take away many treasured memories.
