I think he would be so proud to see what this night has become...

Please introduce yourself to those unfamiliar with your DJ sound.

Hi My name Tim French I'm Progressive House, Breaks, Melodic & Techno DJ/Producer based in Plymouth. I DJ across the UK & Europe and have had releases on such labels as The Sound Garden, Hooj Choons, Forensic Records, Stripped Digital, Perfecto Black, Limbo, Configurations Of Self amongst others aswell as locally based label Melodic Beats Recordings. The older reader amongst you will probably remember me from my residency at The dance Academy in the 90's Aswell as playing at the Warehouse, Sound Factory and other venues across the South West at that time. More recently you will know me for my involvement in Melodic Beats Music my radio show on Frisky FM and my Sets at Cosmic Sessions and other nights across the South West.

What are your highlights of the past year and what is planned for the future?

Highlights from the past year will be stretching my production skills and writing some more chilled out breaks and down beat trip hop style releases for remixes on The Configurations of Self' imprint, releasing on Nick Warrens "The Sound Garden" Label with a colab with local boy Pilch Starting a new Bi Monthly show on Frisky Fm and playing longer DJ Sets at Comics Sessions at the Cosmic Kitchen. A particular good night was the "Magnetic Should" Night in November which was the brain child of Plymouth and South West local Legend Jeff Van Dyke who sadly passed away as fews years back. I think he would be so proud to see what this night has become and what the Twins are delivering music wise at the venue, they really are keeping the vibe alive.

We start off deep dubby melodic prog then crank it up a gear with some more melodic driven techno vibing prog and finish off with some breaks for good measure.

Tell us something positive to inspire future artists.

Learn your craft, there is no fast route to success, to be an over night sensation takes ten years plus. Be true to yourself, get your own sound be humble and just enjoy the ride. Its about the journey not the destination.

What artists have inspired your DJ style?

Sasha & John Digweed have always been my biggest inspirations alongside people like Anthony Pappa, Jody Wisternoff, Nick Warren, Phil Jubb, Richie Piggot, James Holden Tom Middleton to name a few. If its good music delivered well then I will get inspiration from it.

Talk us through your podcast mix track selection.

My mix is very much a condensed version of what I would play at Cosmic sessions and the second half is very much the vibe of that Magnetic souls gig. There's a few sneak peaks of some new releases and remixes and mine coming later this year. We start off deep dubby melodic prog then crank it up a gear with some more melodic driven techno vibing prog and finish off with some breaks for good measure. If you like what you hear pop down to Comics Sessions next time I'm down there and experience it live , I normally do 6 hours sets so you get a good journey.
