Dave Clarke is a staple name in the electronic dance music industry with an association with techno and even being branded 'The Baron of Techno' by the late John Peel. Clarke has been watching the current situation where he sees DJs playing sets to crowds during the pandemic and at a time when disruptive social distancing measures are still very much in place for the nightlife industry. He has expressed disappointment with venues and DJs opting for money before safety.

In a relatively long social media post Clarke refers to those operating unsafe events as 'f****** idiots' and makes the link between events advertising that no face masks are required entering lockdown weeks later.
