Rokaman is no stranger to Little South and has won DJ of the Year whilst being featuring multiple times within our podcast mix series. Rokaman talks about his productions and which of tracks are now signed to some big labels.

Tell us about your recent productions and how they have come to fruition.

Well I’ve been a bit quiet in the studio lately which is often the case during the summer, most of my best work is done during the winter. Something about those long dark days that gets the flow going production wise. I tend to work on samples that inspire me, then go from there. Once the flow is going it’s pretty quick process, and I tend to get inspiration for my next track from the one im currently working on. I finished 6 new Tracks during this winter, all are signed to various labels but only 1 has been released so far. A track called ‘Let’s Rock’ will be my next release on Whore House. But the release I am really excited about the most is a 2 track Ep called Freaked & Baroque, that will be dropping on Sleazy Tech Records toward the end of summer/ early Autumn. Expect big summer piano vibes with techy beats.

What is your signature track?

Now thats a tuff one . I will normally have 1 or 2 tracks that are big for me per year, and they will tend to stay in my sets thru the year. But the 2 tracks that have probably lasted the longest in my sets going on 3 years now I think is Weiss ‘Sunshine’ absolute class vocal and never fails on the floor. And Camelphat ‘make um dance’

Where have you tried and tested your tunes?

Now the best part of being a DJ and producer is now getting to test your own stuff before you sign it to a label, it’s the best way to gage if the track is working or lacks something. I’ve been luckily enough over the last 20 years of DJing & 7 years of producing to play at some great parties and events that include; Boardmasters, Masked Ball, Kynance, Leopalooza, Frendzy, Drop, Mangos and many more.

Any sneak peaks at your next production?

Well on my latest littlesouth podcast I have included my track Barouque which is signed to Sleazy Deep, this will not be out for a bit yet, so bit of an exclusive for you. Of course you can also check out my Beatport or Traxsource for my full catalogue of releases you may be surprised how many there are now https://www.beatport.com/artist/rokaman/502281 But the best way to get any upfront previews will be to follow my fb artist page, where I often upload some videos from the studio with sneaky peaks of new tracks. h ttps://m.facebook.com/RokamanMusic/

Which artist is most similar to you in terms of style?

Very difficult to say, but artist/ producers who tracks inspire me are: Camelphat, Weiss, Frankie Rizardo, Qubiko, Angelo Ferreri, The Deepshakerz, Prok & Fitch.

Where can we catch you playing next?

So my next gigs are Leopalooza festival on 28th July. I will then be at Boardmasters playing the vip area on the 11th August.

What labels are you signed to?

So I have been lucky to be signed to lots of great ones over the last 7 years, I won’t list all as to many to. But some of my latest tracks that have been signed to: Sleazy Deep, Whorehouse Records, Area 94, Blacksoul Music, Vamos, 18-09, MVMT. Labels I am extremely proud of being part of.
