Artist Interview

"I chose tracks that represent me right now. Starting off pretty funky and finishing off on a tougher note."

Hi Anna, please introduce yourself to our readers.

I'm Anna M. I grew up in Cornwall and spent a lot of my formative years around the party scene... Bowgie, Jesters, Shire Horse etc. I have always loved music but when I moved to London and met my husband Tim, with his skill I soon learnt to DJ. Only vinyl back then, with hours spent in london record shopping and carrying large record boxes all over the uk. I never played out but carried on my passion at home.

It wasn’t until 6 years ago that I started playing out, mainly with some persuasion from my friends who wanted me to do it. Now I love it and am lucky enough to have played in some amazing places including Pikes, Hush Ibiza, Port Eliot, Masked Ball & Sri Lanka.

The poolside set at Pikes was an amazing experience and it happened to be on our 15th wedding anniversary last october.

My first remix was signed to Doorly’s Reptile Dysfunction Label and charted in the Traxsource Afro Top 100.

What’s planned for summer 2020?

I have been booked for several festivals along with a monthly residence at POP in Wadebridge but this is all a bit up in the air at the moment due to recent events so I can't confirm anything right now. So I'm spending my time concentrating on my Music Technology College Course with the super talented Si Gordon and focusing on studio work with Tim.

Talk us through your podcast mix.

Im really not one to be pigeon holed but I love everything from Disco to Techno but I have a little soft spot for tribal influenced house. I chose tracks that represent me right now. Starting off pretty funky and finishing off on a tougher note.
