The Prodigy made a significant alteration to the lyrics of their song 'Smack My Bitch Up'. Originally released in 1997 as part of their album 'The Fat of the Land', this track gained notoriety and was even voted the most controversial song of all time in 2012 by the Performing Right Society. Despite its initial popularity, having amassed over 100 million streams on Spotify, the band made the decision, 26 years later, to modify the lyrics.
There have been claims that the song "glamourises domestic violence", but the band has previously disagreed with this statement. According to Sky News, they have stated that the lyrics actually mean "doing anything intensely". However, The Sun has reported that at the band's recent gigs, Maxim - who is now the lead singer following the unfortunate death of Keith Flint - has been substituting the controversial chorus with the line "change my pitch up". Although The Prodigy has not officially announced the change in lyrics, they have been heard singing the new line at their shows at London's Alexandra Palace.
The Prodigy is currently embarking on their highly anticipated European tour. Don't miss out on the opportunity to witness their electrifying performances as they continue to captivate audiences across the continent. Secure your tickets to the remaining tour dates by clicking here.
