Large Numbers Attend Illegal Rave At RAF Charmy Down

Hundreds attend illegal event near Bath over the weekend at former air base.

Police are reportedly still trying to disperse over 3000 people from an illegal event taking place at RAF Charmy Down, Bath. The site is located 3 miles from the center of Bath. Noise complaints have been reported as far away as Bristol. Police arrived to be confronted with large crowds and the decision was made to block further attendees from coming but to allow the event to run it's course as safely as possible.

Avon and Somerset Police said: "Officers closed off the approach routes, however people were abandoning vehicles and making their way to the site on foot. Officers were still turning vehicles away at 06:40 on Sunday (19th July 2020). There were also other significant incidents across the force area including 120 999 calls which required an immediate police response and the attention of our resources. Therefore the decision was taken to contain the event until daylight hours."

The Police have promised to take appropriate action against those responsible for the event.
