Starting as a bedroom DJ at just 14 years old, DJ Max Honeyman taught himself the basics on a pair of belt drives and 3 happy hardcore records. Testing his ability at the local under 18’s Clubs (as he was still a minor) and in search of experience he moved to the bright lights of Newquay, playing at parties and pubs.
He was offered his first full time residency at Gossips in St.Austell playing every Friday and Saturday night from 2001-2003. These were busy years for him, gaining an immense amount of skill, confidence and a brand new style of funky house, electro and breaks he played to a crowd off 4000 at the 2001 Surfers Against Sewage Ball and later that year in the Bugged Out Tent at Creamfields. In 2002 Dj Max Honeyman was the supporting DJ for Stretch and Vern at the Cornwall’s number one Run to the Sun event held in Newquay, before securing his second residency at the Barn Night Club in Penzance.
In 2006 he entered the he entered the Movida Corona DJ Competition, starting off in the southwest at the Koola bar, Newquay, he came first and won himself a place in the second round of the competition held at Bournemouth’s Opera House. Finally after competing against 500 hopeful entries he gained second place at the UK finals held at The Ministry of Sound, London.
