James Keat

After getting tuned into the Rave sound in 1991 by a group of 6th formers who were doing a music project, Keaty's Djing career has seen him play in both grimey warehouses, outdoor parties and sparkling clubs. Buying his first pair of hifi turntables from Argos in '91 his early sound was very much of the breakbeat hardcore genre with people like Ellis Dee, Slipmatt, Easygroove, Sy and Rhythm Section.

When he wasn't raving he was saving for a set of 1210's and spending copious amounts of time in the now legendary Saffron Records in St Austell, "I think I used to bug the hell out of Kev, but he always sorted me out with some tunes. Was properly gutted when it closed down!"

With the record collection growing a set of 1210's and making some contacts whilst out, Keaty was starting to play some local gigs in pubs, clubs and fields and generally enjoying the partying and everything that went with it, it was away of life for him.

In the time between 1992 - 1998, James as he is known to his parents, had played many differant styles of dance music to many differant people, playing hardcore at Danceplanet Detonator IX then hardhouse at Jesters in Newquay on the same night.

He continues to spin tunes up and down the country and twice monthly at the Redsquare in Newquay where he joins the Lush Boys, Jinal and Stan Collins.
