Moss, and brother-in-law Lanni, started DJ’ing in Cornwall under the name Disfunc in 1996 where they soon made a name for themselves at various club & bar residencies across Cornwall, including one of the longest running club nights in the SW at the Bosuns Club, Penzance (2000-2007). These rammed, sweatbox gigs created a loyal following and attracted guests of the calibre of Organic Audio, Mint Royale, FC Kahuna, Quantic and Sgt Rock plus sets at most of the major festivals in the area.
Most Disfunc DJ sets shift through the gears from downtempo breaks through to disco, electro and homegrown mashes and the revival of electro from labels such as City Rockers in the early noughties seemed to complete a full musical circle from their earlier years in the northern heartland of 80s electro-pop.
Moss Disfunc now focuses on producing for various labels including We Stand Alone Records and music for the media through EMI plus a variety of projects with numerous local musicians / DJs and producers from his studio base near Penzance. Moss also works for a local youth music charity (CYMAZ) creating new musical opportunities for Cornwall’s Under 25s.
