At an early age Phil Needham (DJ Velso) was very interested in music of all genres, from the first Garage tracks of the early 90's to the Rave classics of The Prodigy and The Shamen. With such a broad range of musical taste's DJ Velso didn't just listen to the music that people thought was cool or fashionable and trusted his own instincts to find the best tracks.
DJ Velso is a true modern DJ, embracing the advances in technology. He first learnt to mix on a pair of Numark table top CDJ turntabes mixing mostly House/Commercial House tunes of the day. He now plays a broad mix of genres on either CD Decks or Vinyl.
In 2007, on a clubbing trip to Fabric in London at the age of 24 he heard Sinden play "Beeper" and loved this fresh new sound. From then he picked up as many Fidget House tracks as he could knowing that it wouldn't be long before this sound exploded.
DJ Velso is not content with just Dj'ing alone and has entered into the producing game. Producing many mash-ups and remixes including a mash-up of "Riva Starr Vs. Daft Punk", receiving wide support and being featued on Riva Starr's own website.
After 'testing the water' with producing, DJ Velso then went on to try promoting, New to the scene DJ Velso 'founded' GET TWISTED, a Electro / Fidget / House night, which over the past year has seen nights all over Cornwall.
DJ Velso's genuine passion for music itself shows in his enthusiasm, worate to succeed and especially when he is behind the decks!
