We have a winner
The competition had over 9,000 unique votes, but our winning DJ for 2008 with a staggering amount of votes alone was Morphosis! Our congratulations go out to him and wish him every success for 2009.
Shortly after being told the result, Morphosis released these comments:
"Cor blimey! Where do you start...? I am of course massively chuffed to have won this accolade, and when you look at the competition it means even more, there are some seriously talented individuals within the Littlesouth Fold, which I'm sure you'll agree bodes well for the South West party scene in 2009!
It's things like this that really make you feel like what you're doing is appreciated and will spur me on to bigger and better things this year. We will of course be continuing with 'Simian Sounds' at the Watermans in Falmouth every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month and after the huge success of our launch night with the 'Drumattic Twins' in October we are hoping to take it up to the Sandsifter on a regular basis. I'm also hoping to push on, along side my HKPP compadre 'Fat Harry', with our production skills. We're just finding our feet with out cut & paste project 'Chop Shop 45'.
2008 started with a bang when www.nsbradio.co.uk won Breakspolls Best Breaks Radio Station Award @ Fabric, both my NSB shows (mon & fri 1-3pm) have gone from strength to strength as have both night I'm involved with in Falmouth, 'Simian Sounds' and 'Hong Kong Ping Pong'. I've found my musical taste being broadened once again by the people I've met and the acts that we've brought to the SW from the breaks scene and beyond, the highlight being working the live radio broadcast rom the Breaksday Tent @ Glade which allows you to rub shoulders with some of the finest dj's & producers out there. This was also thanks NSB so I guess I should take the opportunity to give a massive shout out to Mr. 'Jimmy Brayks' and to all my fellow hosts (you know who you are).
While I'm on the big ups, huge shout outs to Monkey-T aka. 2 Bags Tom my Simian bad bwoy, the lovely Miss H and K-man for putting up with my erratic schedule, Fat Harry & Spinforth, The Watermans crew, The Sandsifter, www.nuskoolbreaks.co.uk and all who dwell in her, The Freerange Party Society, Lush, Logic Sense, the Falmouth party crew who are always up for throwing some shapes come rain or shine, my brother for letting me steal his rave mixtapes back in '91 which got me started djing and last but not least Matt @ Littlesouth for putting the hard graft in on the forum and making the podcasts possible!"
