May 2009 Update
Truro beauty Charlotte Thomson has been declared winner of this year’s infamous High Street Honey competition.
The modelling competition for gorgeous girls-next-door, now in its eighth year, is run by popular men’s magazine FHM and attracted almost 14,000 entries this year from women across the UK. Out of these hopefuls, 100 honeys were whittled down to a final ten who faced the gauntlet of a public vote.
Charlotte, 21, has hit the nightspots of the region charming clubbers and canvassing for votes, and has attracted online interest with her campaigns on social networking site Facebook. Her posters have graced many a shop window over the last month, but the stunning student hasn’t always been so confident.
What a year. In the weeks, months and seasons since we first made the call for girls nationwide to remove their outer garments and email us their jpegs, no fewer than 13,892 ladies have obliged. The purpose-built inbox, closely guarded by one much-envied FHM staffer, bore witness to a new record number of hopefuls, all bidding to become 2009’s High Street Honey champ.
But in the end, there could only ever be one winner. Her name? Charlotte Thomson, a former photographic assistant from Truro, Cornwall, and now officially Britain’s hottest girl next door. “I still can’t take it in,” giggles the 21-year-old. “The whole competition has been incredible. I never expected to get in the Top 10, let alone win. It’s surreal. I guess I just have to thank my fans.”
And if Charlotte’s fans (which, statistically, means you) enjoyed meeting Charlotte first time out, then buckle up – things are about to get much, much better. Landing the Honeys crown means Charlotte will present FHM Presents The 100 Sexiest Video Ever on Kiss TV, alongside Dizzee Rascal. Tune in on Saturday, May 30 at 4pm to see Charlotte's TV debut.ot.
March 2009 Update
Hi guys!
I just wanted to update you on what ive been up to...
Well, the 2009 FHM competition has proven to be a LOT more involved than I was expecting, not to mention stressful, but I really am loving every minute! Me and my best friend Georgia have been all over Cornwall, putting up posters in bars, clubs, restaurants and shops, so unfortunately you are probably seeing my ugly mug wherever you go!
We’ve also been out and about in the day and sometimes in the evenings chatting to you lovely lot, asking you to vote for me and handing out leaflets with all the voting info, as after all, you are only allowed one vote per email address, so I REALLY need you to pass the message on to all your mates if we have any chance of doing this for Cornwall!
The Barn club in Penzance were amazing and did a fantastic night for me last Saturday, everyone was so supportive. I'll be in Falmouth this weekend meeting, greeting and promoting, and then Newquay (Berties) on 21st, which I am soooo looking forward to, its going to be huge, and it’s the last weekend before the voting ends so please come and support me! This is all amazing, mainly because I get to go shopping for a new outfit every week haha!!
Im in London as I write this, recovering from stomping round in high heels all day yesterday trying to get modelling jobs, so keep an eye out for me in some adverts coming up soon!!
Littlesouth is a fantastic site, me and my mates check it out all the time to see whats going on in Cornwall, and see the best places to go etc... its exactly what cornwall needs to spread the word for the clubbing scene as quite often no one really knows whats going on down here!! the photos are hilarious too, remind me of good times!
